Things That You Can Create in Virtual Worlds

I was looking at some one’s blog (http://www.iliveisl.com), this is a blog about OpenSim and other kind of stuff. But one interesting thing I found this weeks are images from creations of other avatars. I was really impressed and I decided to share this images, so people can see the wonders you can create on virtual worlds:

All this work were made by Paislee, These are things that I like to see and I hope that more people will come and become artists in Virtual Worlds. It would be great if people behind to destroy our nature or anything else, could create something like this on real life. BTW For those who have never tried, building is a good option to release stress and next time I am going to speak about it.

Weird Avatar: “Who Needs a Slxt To Night ?”

I have this chat with some one who was asking on a sim “Who wants a Slxt to Night ?”.I don’t know how someone wants to become as a Slxt in a game, I mean this is not funny also not normal on the metaverse. How is possible that some one wants that?. By to he way, I just spoke to this resident to show how some avatars are just weird.  There are so much nice people, most of them very friendly but sometimes there are some really strange, crazy and some “dangerous” avatars.

As I spoke with her in private chat, she told me a few times that “This is just for  fun”. Even our conversation was so short, I tried to convice her to do something different, creative and possitive that just become as a “slxt”:

Xpontaneus Combustion: Hi hello

Xpontaneus Combustion: can ask you a question ?

Resident: yes

Resident: u know u can own me

Resident: i can be ur slxt

Resident: the second life with have a sign that says i need permission from u to go some where

Xpontaneus Combustion: well actually what you want to do ?

Xpontaneus Combustion: I mean what do you want to do ?

Resident: idk u?

Xpontaneus Combustion: nop

Xpontaneus Combustion: but why you want to become a slxt ?

Resident: u a girl or boy?

Xpontaneus Combustion: What it is the main reason ?

Xpontaneus Combustion: I am a mutant

Xpontaneus Combustion: A male

Resident: its funand i like sx. and i like to serve my boss

Xpontaneus Combustion: your boss, who is your boss ?

Resident: ooo nice

Resident: no one right now

Xpontaneus Combustion: yeah but I cannot understand why you want to become as a slxt in a game ?

Resident: my last boss had to let me go cuz he cud get rid of the other models

Resident: its fun

Xpontaneus Combustion: models ?

Resident: and u know u can

Resident: my6 friend jxx fxxxx is a slxt here

Xpontaneus Combustion: well I don’t know so much, but you do you consider to be a slxt a fun ?

Resident: she is owned by mxx mxxxxx

Xpontaneus Combustion: may be because you can earn some money ?

Xpontaneus Combustion: I mean what it is the mean reason you want to become as a slxt ?

Resident: no

Resident: not for money. i like sx and if im owned i ge sx cute outfits nice friends and i do anything for my boss

Xpontaneus Combustion: yeah but there is nothing better to do that be a slxt in game ?

Xpontaneus Combustion: I mean you can do something better than that

Resident: nah not 4 me gotta go to find a new boss. bye

Xpontaneus Combustion: Well I would suggest you to do something better than to become a slxt

I don’t know who gave this impression to her (or him in RL). You can do better things on Virtual Worlds, to get better stuff (sometimes nice freebies or you can buy great stuff).  She (or He) thinks that beign an slxt is fun because “she can get nice outfits and nice friends”. Well, It seems that this resident doesn’t know what is the true behind the slxts on real life.

I asked myself what happened, if behind this avatar is an ignorant young woman or young man that doesn’t know the reality. Would her decide in the following years to become as a slxt?, Well I really don’t know but I hope she will change her mind. Before I finish this post I want to remind two paragraph on Second Life TOS:

How Linux Saves The Titanic! by LinuxJournal

Nowadays that 3d movies are becomming so popular, some old movies are comming back but with 3d effects. I have seen and listen that some people speak about “The Titanic”. This is one of the greates movies of all time by James Cameron:

Titanic is a 1997 American epic romantic disaster film directed, written, co-produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. A fictionalized account of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, it stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-fated maiden voyage.

Cameron’s inspiration for the film was predicated on his fascination with shipwrecks; he wanted to convey the emotional message of the tragedy, and felt that a love story interspersed with the human loss would be essential to achieving this. Production on the film began in 1995, when Cameron shot footage of the actual Titanic wreck. The modern scenes were shot on board the Akademik Mstislav Keldysh, which Cameron had used as a base when filming the wreck. A reconstruction of the Titanic was built at Playas de Rosarito, Baja California, and scale models and computer-generated imagery were also used to recreate the sinking. The film was partially funded by Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox, and, at the time, was the most expensive film ever made, with an estimated budget of $200 million.

Everybody speaks about the movie, but does anyone knows which technology was used to made this great movie. Well, I don’t think so, when I began to get knowledge about opensource and free software, I used to buy some interesting magazines. One of them which help me a lot to understand about this subjects was LinuxJournal (http://www.linuxjournal.com). My first magazine came with an interesting and curious title it says:”Linux Saves The Titanic”.

Maybe the article is a little bit old, the hardware and the linux os too. But what it is interesting, how a Opensource OS was used to create a great movie!. I will not add all the article in this post, if you want to read about here is the link: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/2494 or you can find some information about on Google.

SL: Isn’t it a Game or Is it a Social Game?

I found this article in Dummies (http://www.dummies.com) webpage, which I would like to speak about:

“Second Life: It’s Not a Game

Want to make a bunch of Second Life users mad really quick? Call Second Life a game. Although it looks like a video game similar to World of Warcraft or The Sims, Second Life (SL) isn’t a game. In SL, you don’t level-up, complete missions, or earn new armor. So exactly what do you do in Second Life? Well, you live a second life. Anything you can do in real life (from washing dishes and buying a house to getting a job and getting married), you can do in SL.

So “Second Life is not a game it is a social network”, btw I would not take mad really quick if you call Second Life as a game, I will always consider Second Life as a game and not social network or may be I could call it as a Social Game. But why?,  where in the world have you seen that residents can get married, have virtual babys or other things.

Because SL isn’t a game, the folks who use it don’t refer to themselves as players. Instead, the people who inhabit the SL world are residents.

Is SL isn’tt a game ?, again I think Second Life is a GAME or a Social Game. I would say that yes we are residents but we are players too.

There are games in SL, though. You can play poker, golf, baseball, pool, or any other real-life game you can imagine. There are also games unique to SL, such as Slingo, which is a bingo-like game first created by a SL resident and now available on many other platforms. You can also participate in role playing games as a vampire, werewolf, postapocalyptic scavenger, or whatever else your role-playing heart desires.

Yes, there are so many kind of games inside another game which is Second Life. Even now, I have hear that even you can play RPG, Bingo and even Blowing. There are so many kind of distractions but even Linden Labs created a new game called as “Linden Realms”.

Most people with an Internet connection have at least heard of social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook. These Web sites let you connect with people with whom you have something in common and might enjoy talking to, and Second Life isn’t much different. You’ll be able to join groups centered around hobbies, affiliations, nationalities, and other interests. You’ll also be able to make friends with people who are interested in similar things, thus building your own social circle in Second Life, which means you’ll always have someone to hang out with.”

Well, there is a big different between MySpace, Facebook and Second Lfe. Second Life is a Metaverse or a Virtual World, you can have direct speaking to another person using chat or mic. Facebook is only a text chat, while Second Life is direct mic speaking but also you can give a virtual hug to somebody else. Is Second Life not much different ?, well IT IS REALLY DIFFERENT. You can have a virtual house, pets, make friends, etc… There is something that you cannot find in those social networks and Second Life. In Second Life you can build your own world and your own avatar, and that’s something you cannot do in any other social network.

As I always say, SL is a game and some people get so serious virtual world. Just remember, don’t take so it seriously or you will hurt yourself. Enjoy the game thats all!. But also when you go to SL it is in your own responsabilty and nobody is responsable of your own acts.
